Therapy is seldom a one person process. To fully understand an individual’s needs and reactions to their environment, it requires family involvement. More often than not, each person plays a role by contributing to the situation in some way. As a Marriage and family therapist, I am trained in psychotherapy and family systems. In order to treat a person for mental illness, emotional problems, and addiction, I must know where they come from and how they are being supported by the people closest to them.
Some of the services I provide to families includes the diagnosis and treatment of mental and emotional disorders, treatment planning, and life coaching. Together, we come up with a care plan that supports not only the individual receiving therapy but each member of the family and caregivers as well.
The American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy reports that 2.1% of the population sees a Marriage and family therapist each year. That accounts for 6.1 million people. Statistically, results-oriented forms of treatment such as therapy works. It is cost-effective and known to improve emotional and physical health as well as relationships and coping with life’s stressors in a positive and productive way.
